Purpose. The committee shall be charged with:
• Provide ideas for City Council to consider for changes to ordinances, policies, design criteria, and fees pertaining to business establishments within the City;
• With proper authorization from City Council, provide support in seeking grants and sponsorship opportunities for business establishments;
• When asked by City Council, make recommendations to the City Council and the City Manager on proposed ordinances or changes to ordinances, policies, design criteria, and fees affecting current or proposed business establishments within the City of Manvel;
• Review the scores of food establishments based on health inspections and reports; and
• Perform any other duties or task as may be assigned by the Manvel City Council or by the Planning Commission (PD&Z).
Board Information
Members. The City Council creates the membership of the Task Force as a five (5) member entity, with two (2) alternates. The Task Force shall be composed of:
(a) at least one person who is an owner or manager of any business principally based in the City of Manvel;
(b) two (2) people who are self-employed and are residents of the City of Manvel; and
(c) two (2) people with experience managing or operating a small business, as defined by the United States Small Business Administration (SBA).
The Council shall make the appointments by a majority vote and in making the appointments shall decide which members shall be alternates. During a meeting where an alternate is needed, the Chairman shall select which alternate(s) may sit with the Task Force and fully participate. It is recommended that the Chairman rotate the alternates if possible. Appointments to fill vacancies shall be made by the Manvel City Council and in every case shall be for the unexpired term only of the member whose position has been vacated.
